Descriptions:

South Australian based Tigerfish Aviation is developing a modern method to adapt an aircraft to the amphibious role. Like fixed floats it is a retrofit system but is not an 80+ year old concept. The retraction of the floats reduces air drag from +45% for fixed floats to only +10%. This huge reduction will transform the performance of a float plane allowing modern high-performance aircraft to become available to service the growing demand for water-based air transport. This modern approach includes FEA and CFD design, and advanced composites resulting in a system no heavier than fixed floats. It is a retrofit pack attaching to the existing aircraft and includes its own undercarriage.
